Research-based recommendations. Our approach.
Pack for one cup outside
Before you head to the park, pack ground coffee, the AeroPress filter cap and a Standard filter. Bring hot brewing water in a separate insulated container made for hot drinks. Fill your water bottle with cool drinking water for the walk back.
Check the mug before you leave
The brown cup in the picture is for serving. For brewing, measure across the inside of your own sturdy mug or carafe. The AeroPress FAQ puts the standard Original’s range at 2¾ to 3¾ inches (70–95 mm). Avoid thin glass. Check at home that the press sits securely on the rim. At the picnic table, set the brewing mug on a flat spot clear of the gaps between boards and follow the Original’s upright instructions.
The chamber and plunger pictured belong to the 2019 Version 8 design. The shopping link opens the current gray, standard-size AeroPress Original with a 10 oz capacity. Check the listing if you need a particular accessory.
Choose a water bottle you’ll carry
The silver Klean Kanteen in the 2017 photo has an older fixed-loop cap. Its exact model and capacity are unknown. If your usual bottle fits your bag, take it along. If you’re shopping, compare the single-wall Wide models by capacity, height and cap style. The current 40 oz example has a swivel loop.
The paid Amazon bottle link opens search results that can also include insulated bottles, Classic models and other brands. Check the model on the item page. Our recommendations are based on the manufacturers’ specifications.
