Choose the pan for the cooking step

The Lodge 12-inch cast-iron skillet handles the cooking step; the Microplane is for an optional hard-cheese finish. Think vegetables for lunch, with cheese added only if you want it. These tools have separate jobs, and you do not need to buy both.

Lodge identifies this model as L10SK3 and lists it for stovetop use, including induction, and for the oven. Keep the pan you already own if it suits the meal. This is a specification-based selection, not a recipe we have tested.

Check the size and care

The current L10SK3 measures 18 inches overall with its handles, 12.56 inches across, and 2.25 inches high. Lodge lists its weight as 7.69 pounds. Check your storage, cooking space and comfort with that weight before choosing it.

The photograph shows a new pan with its paper insert and tag still attached. Remove the paper and tag before heating or cooking. Lodge says its seasoned cookware needs a rinse and hand drying before first use, without another at-home seasoning step.

Cast-iron handles get hot. Use suitable heat protection when moving a hot pan and follow the cookware and protection instructions. After use, hand wash, dry and oil as Lodge directs. Skip the dishwasher. A lighter pan or one with a different care routine may fit you better.

Make the cheese optional

Microplane lists hard cheeses among the uses for its current Professional Series 2.0 Coarse grater. The photographed grater is an older Professional-style tool with a coarse-style blade; its exact model is not verified. Choose the blade for the texture you want.

The grater is useful only if you want that finishing step and do not already have a suitable tool. Skip it if you prefer lunch without cheese. The pictured 2012 design differs from the current 2.0 model.

Check the version before buying

The skillet photo dates from 2016. Its printed insert identifies L10SK3, 12 inch and UPC 075536301006; current packaging may look different. The grater photo dates from 2012 and does not establish an exact current SKU.

The Lodge Amazon page selects the 12-inch skillet and lists L10SK3, but two catalog fields say “Miniature Skillet.” Confirm the 12-inch size and L10SK3 with the selected offer before ordering. We have not verified a seller or delivery to a US address.

The Microplane Amazon button opens a paid product-family search, which may include multiple blades and unrelated items. Check the item, seller and selected version. Manufacturer links are ordinary links. We have not used these products or tested this pairing.

The scene combines real product photos with an AI-generated counter and food props. The products are resting before use; the image does not demonstrate cooking or grating.
