Research-based recommendations. Our approach.
Measure the trip as well as the cupboard
The Bentgo Glass Salad Container is our recommendation for a separated salad lunch when a substantial bowl suits the way you travel. The OXO Little Salad and Herb Spinner is our companion recommendation for preparing washed greens at home. Before buying either, give each one a destination: one goes into your lunch bag; the other needs a place in the kitchen.
A container that looks compact on a product page may take up most of a narrow bag. A spinner that fits on the counter may be awkward in a shallow cupboard. Neither measurement problem is solved by buying the two together. Treat the carrying and storage checks separately.
Check the Bentgo footprint and weight
Bentgo lists the Glass Salad at 7.6 by 7 by 4 inches and 2.6 pounds. Its bowl capacity is 7.6 cups. The dimensions and empty weight matter more for a commute than the size of an attractive salad pictured in it.
Measure the usable interior of your bag, including the opening you must pass the bowl through. Then account for cold sources and anything else you carry at lunch. FoodSafety.gov recommends two cold sources for perishable lunches, plus a refrigerator or cooler on arrival when available.
Consider how you travel. Someone who places a bag in a car may accept a different load from someone carrying lunch and a laptop for a long walk. We have not carried this container ourselves, so we cannot tell you how the filled weight will feel. Try holding a comparable load before deciding that glass suits your day.
Give the spinner a home
The OXO Little Spinner measures 8 by 8 by 7 inches. We recommend this smaller model for someone preparing greens in modest batches who has room to store it. Its footprint is still a real storage commitment; the word "Little" is not a substitute for checking your shelf.
Make a paper outline of the footprint and place it where you intend to store the spinner. Check the available height and how you would remove it around neighboring items. Also plan where the washed parts will dry. This simple exercise reveals whether ownership fits your kitchen before you add another bowl-shaped object.
Pick according to the actual obstacle
Choose the Bentgo first if your current problem is keeping lunch components together during the trip. Choose the spinner first if you already have a good carrying container and repeatedly struggle with the greens-preparation step. Keep your existing colander or container if it already works.
For either product, review the current care instructions and included pieces before ordering. Our selected lunch container is the White Glass Salad version; do not assume a similarly named Bentgo container has the same material, size, or included accessories.
