Research-based recommendations. Our approach.
Start with tomorrow's lunch
For a cold lunch you will assemble at a desk, organize the work around what happens at home and what happens when you eat. We recommend the Bentgo Glass Salad Container for keeping meal components together, the OXO Little Salad and Herb Spinner for greens you wash yourself, and the OXO Little Salad Dressing Shaker for dressing you mix at home.
These are three roles, not a required bundle. The container is the starting point if you need separated storage for a meal. The spinner is useful only when drying greens is part of your preparation. The shaker earns its space when you regularly make dressing instead of pouring it from a store-bought bottle.
Prepare near the sink
Use the OXO Little Spinner for the water-removal stage, then move the prepared greens to the lunch bowl. Keep an empty area next to the sink for unloading, and put the spinner away after cleaning. Its role ends before you pack your bag.
Lay out the meal components before filling the bowl. Think about what you want mixed at lunchtime and what you want separate until then. You do not need to copy a staged, full-to-the-top salad: leave yourself room to assemble and eat the portion you actually want.
Give the container the carrying job
The Bentgo Glass Salad includes a removable topping tray, a sauce container, and a fork. That makes it our pick for someone who wants the different parts of a salad to travel together. Use the included sauce container for the dressing you intend to take; it is already part of the set.
If you prepare dressing from scratch, the one-cup OXO Little Shaker is our optional mixing tool. Portion from it into the Bentgo sauce container, then keep the remaining dressing according to the recipe's storage instructions. You do not need to carry both containers to use this workflow.
Plan the cold route before the commute
Food storage and temperature control are separate jobs. FoodSafety.gov advises packing perishable lunches with two cold sources and refrigerating them, or placing them in a cooler, on arrival when available. Allow room in your lunch bag for that cooling arrangement as well as the meal.
Choose the container only after checking the route from home refrigerator to lunch. A bowl with a secure lid does not establish how long your ingredients remain safely cold. We do not make a storage-life or insulation claim for this setup.
Make the next evening easier
When you get home, unpack the bowl, tray, sauce cup, and fork together so no small part disappears into the bag. Choose a drying spot for the pieces. A workable reset gives you a more useful basis for judging this purchase than whether one lunch photo looks tidy.
